DPTS have transcribed over 380,000 tapes for Shell UK in two projects, one for 3D data and one for 2D data.

The 3D project involved analyzing various databases, identifying and sorting tapes by survey, and eliminating duplicate tapes. A total of approximately 235,000 tapes and cartridges were then transcribed to 3590 cartridges, with a backup security copy also produced.
  
Index files were created and registered into Petrobank. Observers Logs and other associated paper data were scanned during the archive project.

The 2D project involved the transcription of approximately 145,000 9-track tapes, dating back to the 1960’s, in poor condition and in various formats. The data was subsequently loaded to the Shell HSM archive system in the Netherlands.
