The DPTS Data Stewardship Programme is a data archiving and preservation program that provides the highest level of assurance that a company will have access to their digital data information in the future

Data Archiving and Preservation Problems:
• All media deteriorates over a period of time
• Recording devices may fail and be difficult and expensive to repair
• Technology changes rapidly and media and recording devices soon become obsolete

The DPTS Data Stewardship Programme Methodology:
• Two copies of the client's digital data is preserved on two distinct current and proven media and recording technologies. The media and recording devices chosen will be those most beneficial to the client - they must be in common use in this industry
• After creating the two media sets they are stored in a temperature and humidity controlled, FM-200 fire-protected, secure facility and monitored regularly to ensure their integrity

DPTS will monitor technology trends and be alert to potential problems related to each media. If it is determined that a media is deteriorating or becoming obsolete, DPTS will proactively migrate the client's data to a better media, without any additional cost to the client
• At the end of the Stewardship Programme the client's digital data will be residing on a newer media technology than at the start of the programme

Advantages to the client:
• Fixed cost per Terabyte over the period of the Stewardship programme
• No need to budget for migrating the data to new media
• Data is preserved on modern media
• Data is readily and easily available at all times
• Two datasets held for added security
