NavMerge Services

Major processing contractors use DPTS to meet their NavMerge requirements

DPTS has developed software to merge navigation data with 3D and 2D seismic data (NavMerge) and to facilitate the QC of the NavMerge product.  Seismic data in SEGD or SEGY formats can be merged with navigation data in SEGP1 or UKOOA formats and written to SEGY format.  Matching of navigation and seismic data is done through the shotpoint number and/or the shotpoint time.

Near-trace SEGY files can be generated during or after NavMerge to ease the subsequent important QC process.  Attribute information is captured from the navigation and seismic data and conveniently presented in a CSV file to provide QC charting and databasing opportunities.  This attribute information contains items for each source and streamer combination and includes such fields as shotpoint number, shotpoint time, source id, streamer id, first arrival time, water depth, etc.

All plots and charts can be provided in BMP, TIFF, PNG, and JPEG graphics formats.

       Our NavMerge QC service includes:

  • Plotting of Shot point location maps from the navigation data and from the merged SEGY data for comparison.
  • Plotting of Water depth distribution chart.
  • Plotting of the difference between the data shot time and the navigation shot time.
  • Plotting of the picked first arrival time vs expected direct arrival time for each streamer.
  • Plotting of fold of coverage map from navigation data and from merged data for comparison.
  • Plotting of seismic traces in subsurface track order with picked and expected arrival times overlaid.
  • Statistical analysis of the attribute file.
