A tape transcription contract for ONHYM, Morocco's National Oil Company.

The contract involved the recovery, reformatting and transcription of seismic, well log, navigation, gravity and magnetic data from 1974 to 2001. Over 46,000 tapes, cartridges and optical disks were transcribed to 3590 cartridges or CD-R in industry-standard formats over a 12 month period in Rabat.

DPTS used the Diplomat Transcription software for the project and Diplomat MultiStore to catalogue the tapes transcribed. At the end of the project, the MultiStore database and a complete transcription system, including the Diplomat Transcription software was delivered to ONHYM, thus enabling them to provide ongoing management services for their data.

DPTS have continued to provide technical support, advice and additional training and have recently upgraded the transcription system used by ONHYM.

ONHYM have now awarded a further contract to DPTS to recover navigation data for 200 surveys from magnetic media, maps and reports, and to scan A3/A4 reports, well logs and charts. This project is being performed in Rabat.
